Anti-Vaxxers are Anti-Responsible

Madam Opinionated does not normally condone taking away people’s right to choice. Though it may not specifically be a right in the Constitution or Bill of Rights, it’s implied that as Americans, we have it. However, in the case of the anti-vaccination movement, for the safety of all Americans, Madam Opinionated agrees that this is one time that the right is a folly.

The safety of America depends on people vaccinating their children. Period. Only in America, where everything such as clean drinking water is taken for granted, would over-entitled people question the very shots that has saved millions of lives. To protect the herd, we must continue to vaccinate.

This article does not extend to those children who cannot have vaccinations. They are the ones who rely on other children to be vaccinated the most, so that the herd can give them some protection. No, this article extends to those people who absurdly and arrogantly disregard the notion of eradicating childhood disease.

THERE IS NO LINK BETWEEN VACCINATIONS AND AUTISM!!!!!!!!!!

There was one case study that was published, but rescinded. Though it has been rescinded, there are many uninformed Americans (who ironically think they are informed) spouting this one case study. There are many, many more case studies that show NO link. The CDC even says there is no link. There are some risks to getting vaccinations, but there are some risks to everything we do. Those case studies seem to be forgotten by the anti-vaxxers.

BIG PHARMA ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN PROVIDE VACCINATION MEDICATION!!!!

Another argument, besides the debunked study, that is often cited is that they don’t want to support big pharma. While I empathize with this because it’s grotesque that big pharma charges a lot for their medicines, and that I am also angered by how much money they pocket after all is said and done, it has to be mentioned that a good chunk (though it could be more) of their profits do go to finding better vaccines and better medications. Research is expensive! Some argue that big pharma doesn’t actually want people to get better because less medicine sold is less profit, but we are not going to get into conspiracy theories. The bottom line is that big pharma is expensive, but research is expensive, and no one else can afford to make vaccines but them, so they will have to come from them.

READING AN ARTICLE ON GOOGLE DOES NOT MAKE YOU A DOCTOR!!!!!

Unless you have a degree in modern medicine and chemistry, you can’t read an article from any Joe and assume you now know more than a doctor. How many articles are out there that spout blatant non-truths? You think anti-vaxxer articles are “immune” from such behaviors?

Which brings me to my final point. Don’t listen to me. Do the research for yourself. This means talking to qualified doctors, chemists, the CDC, and other credible sources, not from googling an opinion article like mine. I’m confident you will come up to the same conclusion I did, that vaccinations are invaluable, but I will not cite any sources because Madam Opinionated is just what it claims to be: an opinion. Go find out for yourself.
